Arm Lift
Overview
Arm lift surgery (brachioplasty) addresses loose or sagging upper arm skin that causes rubbing, irritation, or limits clothing choices. Skin cannot be ‘toned’ back through exercise alone when excess skin is the issue.
If your main concern is excess fat rather than loose skin, liposuction alone may be appropriate in selected patients. The trade-off is scarring, and the plan is to place scars in the most concealable and predictable position for your anatomy.
What to Expect
Arm lift surgery is usually performed under general anaesthetic. Technique is selected based on skin quality and extent of laxity: mini arm lift targets mild excess near the armpit; standard brachioplasty addresses moderate to significant laxity; extended arm lift corrects laxity extending toward the side chest. Incisions are typically placed along the inner or posterior arm. Drains may be used. Recovery involves swelling and bruising in the first week, with most patients returning to desk work within 2-4 weeks.
Benefits
Remove excess skin and improve arm contour
Improve comfort by reducing skin rubbing and irritation
Improve proportion and how arms sit in fitted clothing
Improve symmetry as far as anatomy allows
Durable result when weight is stable
Address persistent laxity after weight loss or ageing
Our Services

Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)
The standard procedure to reduce excess sagging skin and fat from the underarm to the elbow, reshaping the arm for a smoother contour.

Mini Arm Lift
Targets mild to moderate skin laxity primarily located near the armpit. This involves a smaller incision that is often well-concealed within the axilla (armpit).

Extended Arm Lift
Addresses significant skin laxity that extends from the arm onto the side of the chest wall. This comprehensive approach is common after massive weight loss.

Revision Arm Lift
Corrective surgery to improve scarring or contour irregularities from previous arm lift procedures, or to address recurrent laxity.
Before & After
FAQs
Will an arm lift remove fat as well as skin?
The primary aim is skin removal. Liposuction may be added in selected cases to improve contour, but not everyone needs it.
Where will the scar be?
Typically along the inner or posterior arm, positioned to be as concealable as possible. Extended lifts add a scar toward the side chest wall. We will show you the expected scar pattern in consultation.
Can exercise fix loose arm skin?
Exercise can improve muscle tone, but it cannot tighten excess skin significantly. Skin laxity is corrected surgically.
When can I return to work and exercise?
Desk work is commonly possible within 2-4 weeks. Exercise returns gradually after 6 weeks if cleared; heavy lifting may take longer.
Will the skin loosen again?
Ageing continues, but results are durable with stable weight. Significant weight change can affect long-term outcome.
